Future Vintage

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Amee is wearing her Grandmothers 1960s stole and the jacket is a 1940s. It was found in a factory during a ‘dead stock’ sale. It had never been worn and Amee was thrilled to get it as a birthday present from a friend. I love the embroidery, colourful buttons and detail on the jacket. The contemporary skirt is by Olga de Polga and holds the whole look together nicely.

Suave Style

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

I thought Neil had such a classic stylish look. Neil will be opening a stall this Sunday at Spitalfields and Neil will be selling new and second-hand designer vintage clothes at his stall, called ‘Threads’. So check it out. If Neil’s stall is anything like his sense of dress, you should be in for a treat.

The Stylist

I loved stylist Mary-Anna’s look. I particularly liked the structure of Mary’s vintage jacket, it works so well with her Donna Karan skirt and her cool-cat hat.

Caipirinha Cocktail

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Cibelle is a musician and producer, originally from Brazil. her clothes come from “dead stock” - vintage shops and markets. She certainly breaths new life into them, with Her colourful cocktail of summer prints. Her only concession to designer wear, is her Borba Margo belt.

Sweet Dreams

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Gemma was on her way to work when managed I to grab a few shots. She loves the 1940’s vintage style - but did confess to mixing it with a little high-street from time to time. She deams of becoming a burlesque dancer.

Here Comes Summer

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

There’s more than a hint of summer in Roya’s outfit - with her oversize PPQ tee, H&M crop tartan jacket and that straw boater hat.

Surprising - Covent Garden

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

I thought Clems look was both stylish and individual. I especially liked the Gingham shirt with frills, bought in a market in Cambodia.

Roaring 40’s

Friday, April 17th, 2009

During this recession vintage clothing is becoming ever more popular. These girls in Soho regularly dress in 1940s clothes and attend period functions. This summer in London there seems to be a particularly large amount of  1940s events held all over the capital.

Rare Groove

I thought Cherine was a cool looking girl - putting together her own look, with a nice touch of turquoise in the vintage coat and those large round earrings.

Quant Revisited

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Charlie has a Vivienne Westwood bag, the jacket “is a sample from somewhere’ and she was wearing a Mary Quant jumpsuit - which her mother wore in the 80s. I just love the the fact that an item of clothing can time travel through three generations and have new life breathed into it - with a fresh new young look.

Clerkenwell Cool

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

I met Ron whilst he was out and about in Clerkenwell ordering his lunch. I loved the subtle muted tones and his layed approach to shirt wear. Ron is wearing vintage 50’s gingham and knitted woollen shirt.

Snow Angel

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Rosa is wearing vintage. I just loved the emerald green deep-fleece coat against the swathes of her chunky natural wool scarf with its flecs of browns and greys. She looked so snug and warm in the snow. Rosa says she is training to become a fashion photographer - I’d better watch my back!

South Ken Party Frock

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Felicity had just come from the V&A Museum in South Kensington. She is wearing a “purple fluffy jumper” with a sexy white mesh tutu skirt and black patterned fishnet tights. I like this picture because the model, the pose and the setting have a sort of 1970’s Punk aesthetic.
