I bumped into celebrity Chef Gizzi Erskine outside Shoreditch House and I couldn’t help but notice Gizzis 60s bouffant, and punky look. Gizzi has a new show on Channel 4 called Cook Yourself Thin. Gizzi says “It’s a modern take on classic dishes, I’ve just rock and rolled them up a bit.” Gizzi is a self confessed Rockabilly, Psychobilly and 60s freak – Gizzi describes her style as “60s meets punk”. Gizzi is wearing a vintage tartan dress teamed with a Missoni jacket and a fine pair of Russell And Bromley brogues.
D’andra is modelling the work of RCA postgraduate student Nabil El Nayal. Nabil is already the recipient of the British Fashion Council’s MA Scholarship Award and was very impressive with his BA graduate collection from back in 2008, which earned him the River Island Graduate Fashion Week Women’s wear Award. Whilst at the RCA, Nabil has also recieved an RCA Fellows Award and looks set for big things in the future.
Courtney McWilliams AKA Courtney MC, has recently graduated from the RCA postgraduate fashion course. Courtney MC has been already designing apparel for Umbro “themed around punk underground football”. Dudley is wearing apparel from Courtneys postgraduate collection. Courtney says she has taken her inspiration from unique British working class street culture. I personally love the graffiti-style designs, which are reminiscent of Basquiat and very NYC.
