The Eternal State Of Grace

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Grace was hanging out with her friends in London’s Docklands. She had been to the ‘Clothes Show Live’ and was wearing this faux fur, which was keeping off the slight breeze coming from the River Thames. Grace told me she bought the vintage dress in Camden Lock market.

Strike A Light

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Aurelie works “in finance” I really liked the way she worked the pinstripe shorts, with those fabulous strappy leggins – which she found in a shop in Camden Town (makes those Primark shoes look – mmmm – really classy).

Hang On

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Jenny studies fashion and dance and is part of the emerging London Nu disco scene.  She was wearing a pair of Jeggings from Topshop – , I am reliably informed they are a cross between jeans and leggings. When I photographed her she was chilling out on the phone to a friend -  in the shade by the river Thames.

Fearne Cotton – A Lovely Spectacle

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

I was lucky to catch Fearne Cotton for a couple of shots as she was being whisked away for the 2009 Clothes Show Live, Style Awards. I loved the fun looking glasses on her Olivia Rubin for ASOS dress . She won best dressed woman of the year award.

Wind In The Willow

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Amy was on her way to the ‘Clothes Show Live’ Style Awards – held this year at the Excel centre in Londons Docklands, for the first time. Amy models for Select and was wearing this wonderful dress from the Australian label Willow, which just came to life in the evening light and gentle breeze.

London – Cool Operator

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Adam was sitting outside the ‘Goodhood’ boutique in Hoxton when I spotted him sporting some classic vintage Ralph Lauren chinos, and a white flannel jacket that belonged to his Grandfather. He also had a really cool ‘one point folded square’ in his pocket.  Adam told me of his plans to open a vintage store on the Lower East side of New York. I think he has impecable taste in casual wear and I am sure it will be a success.

Cupcakes

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

This lovely lady, who I think is called kim – please tell me if I am wrong- makes cupcakes. I loved the association with that old term of endearment ‘Cupcakes’ and the heart shapes in the window.

Cutting it – with Laura Booty

Old, new, borrowed and blue…

Up and coming designer Laura Booty developed an interest in salvage and reclaimed objects while studying fashion at UCA – University for the Creative Arts – in Rochester. She gained inspiration after a visit to a local conceptual artist called Alison Stockmarr, where Laura became fascinated by the way Stockmeyer’s artwork was constructed from found objects and thrown-away material – discarded written notes, keys and toys. “She even used her brother’s childhood pajamas and cut them up to use as part of one of her installations”.

While beach combing on Mersey beach in Essex, with her parents, Laura started searching for glass and bottle caps. Her father, a mechanic, would then take the bottle caps and blow torch them to get rid of the plastic before flattening and drilling them until they eventually resembled sequins.

Double Indemnity

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Fashion and music photographer Pavel was about to pop in a restaurant to see a friend, when I sezied my opportunity to ask if I could take a few photos of her looking so splendid and super cool. With her oversize shades, vintage mac and shoes – and some great colour blocking going on with those navy blue tights – she looked like she could have stepped off the set of Mad Men.

Purple Reign

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I caught up with 18 year old Martina as she was passing through Dalston Junction looking for a bus. I thought she had really edgy – teen-look.. She is originally from Barcelona and was looking forward to the BIG football match on Wednesday evening – when Barca play Manchester United for the Champions League Cup. Martina bought all her clothes in Spain, except for the shoes which are from Primark.
