I began photographing in the mid-1980s after studying Documentary Photography in East London. A 1986 trip to Jamaica introduced me to the island’s vibrant sound-system culture and led me to my early 90s Inna Dancehall Style project. From the ’80s onward I’ve documented life both in the UK and Jamaica, work that has been published by Café Royal Books, Bump Books and Fistful of Books. In 2008 I launched my Street Style Aesthetic fashion blog , now a substantial archive of fashion and attitude from 2008–2023.
In 2015, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture acquired a selection of my Dancehall and Sound System photographs via the Bill Adler Eyejammie Fine Arts collection in NYC. Links to my publications can be found below.
