London – Cool, Calm, Collected

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Michelle Jank is a consultant designer who I came across, while she was hunting down some material for a client. Michelle was wearing a really pretty Australian floral print, vintage dress along with her own rather splendid jewellery, Gucci shoes and a Zara denim jacket.

London – Well Balanced

Saskia Boxford is MD for Kara Ross Europe & Middle East. I really felt like I had scored (excuse the pun) when I spotted Saskia darting between meetings. She was decked out in new season charcoal grey Christian Louboutin shoes, with a kara Ross bag and ring, Antik Batik dress and leather D&G jacket.

I met Rose in Covent Garden. She is wearing an H&M crop jacket with the ruffled shoulders – which I particularly liked – and a dress from Topshop over a black vest. Accessorised by an oversize Primark belt, this easy, classic style seemed perfect for Rose.

London – Model Behaviour

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Marta is a busy woman and I was lucky to catch up with her as she dashed about London searching for catwalk models for London Fashion Week, September 09. Marta was a model herself, so is well equipped for this huge task. She manages to look cool in the heat though, with her Gadiator sandals from Madrid, vintage cut levis, Miu Miu bag, Nicole Farhi nude blouse and Emanuel Ungaro shades.

Duncan is the editor of Acne Paper. The cultural fashion journal is published by Acne – the innovative Swedish fashion collective. I grabbed a couple of shots of Duncan with his all-Acne look, as he was about to be whisked-off to meeting in a chaufer driven limo.

I came across Rachel in Sackville Street. She is a confident young model taking her first steps in the industry. Her teeshirt was a gift from New York.

Cutting it – with Fred Butler

Riotous, bright and court jester like…

I recently visited the unique accessories and props designer Fred Butler at her studio in Angel, north London while she was hard at work on her Summer Autumn collection. Her work has been described as “riotous bright and court jester like”. Fred launched her first official collection of inspirational creations for Autumn/Winter 2008 and was recently the recipient of the prestigious Topshop NewGen sponsorship for A/W 2009.

I started off by asking Fred if her accessories always had to be bespoke, or could she envisage doing something for the high street. “I would love to do a high street diffusion range- that would be fun and accessible, but still have intellectual subconscious appeal, but must be a nice thing to wear.”
